what smart contracts are donald trump interviewand now youalso have a little bit more knowledge onthe programming language needed tocreate these smart contracts in the nextsection we're going to go over walletsand what they are we're also going tocreate your very own wallet if you don'thave one already if you remember earlierin this section we talked about digitalsignatures and being able to executefunctions from our smart contracts thisrequires something called a wallet so inthe next section we'll be coveringwallets what they are how they work andwe'll also be creating again your veryown wallet that you can use throughoutthis course and that you can use for anyof your blockchain activities[Music]in this section we'll be coveringwallets and what they are and whythey're so important to blockchaindevelopment we'll also be creating yourown wallet if you don't own one alreadyand you can use this wallet throughoutthis course along with your blockchaindevelopment Journey or if you just wantto interact web 3 applications ingeneral so many of you may already befamiliar with a physical wallet you useit to hold your cash your debit andcredit cards maybe some ID andidentification or some reward cards aswell wallets that we use to interactwith the blockchain are very similarwhere they can hold things like yourdigital currency your digital assetseven digital assets that help identifycertain things now you may already beused to some sort of digital wallet aswell this could be something like aGoogle pay PayPal venmo cash app thesedigital wallets allow you to hold acurrency or balance and allow you totransfer them to one user to another butit allows you to have your currency thatyou normally hold in your credit cardcard or debit cards or cash inside ofthis digital app wallets that we'll beusing on the blockchain are very similarbut instead will be interacting andtransacting these exchanges on ablockchain instead some of the thingswe're going to be covering in thissection about wallets are going to beyour keys which your wallet will havesomething called a private key and apublic key will also be going over howyour wallet can interact with differentblockchains and how you can send andreceive digital assets from your walletso we'll first start off by talkingabout your keys again your private keyand your public key when you create awallet you'll be given a private key forthat wallet your public key is kind ofthe key that you use to verifytransactions when interacting with theblockchain and again we'll kind of goover these private and public Keys oncewe get into creating your very ownwallet after this now the very importantthing you're going to have to know isthat your private key must be keptsecure you'll probably hear us repeatedmany many many times throughout thiscourse but your private key is veryimportant to your wallet again thisprivate key gives access to the walletand is something that you don't want tojust give out or have anyone else gainaccess to because with that private keyagain they gain access to the wallet nowwe'll go over a couple types of walletsand you may hear some of these termswhen hearing more about wallets thefirst one is going to be a softwarewallet or a hot wallet this is going tobe a wallet that's going to live on aweb or a mobile device like anapplication a browser extension andthese wallets may be the easiest toactually interact and do blockchaindevelopment with and is what we'llactually be creating within this sectionthe other type of wallet that you mighthear is a hardware wallet or a coldwallet and these wallets are going to bephysical device wallets that you cannormally purchase and instead of storingyour digital assets on a software walletlike we just went over you can storethem on an actual physical walletsomething like a ledger for example noweach of these wallets have pros and consthe software or hot wallets do have theease of use being able to interact withblockchain applications because they arebased on the browser or mobile devicebut aren't going to be as secure as coldwallets whereas cold wallets are verysecure and require the physical devicein order to interact with those walletsbut aren't very user friendly when itcomes to blockchain development orinteracting with blockchain applicationsbecause again you do need to have thatphysical wallet on you in order toapprove transactions so we've covered alittle bit about the wallets but let'sactually now create our very own walletso I'm going to jump on the computerhere you can follow along and create awallet if you don't already have one ifyou do you can check out the timestampsdown below and Skip on over to the nextsection and continue on on this coursebut in this example here we're going tobe creating a wallet will actually becreated a metamask wallet which is oneof the more popular wallets to use onthe blockchain and will take you step bystep on how to create that right on yourcomputer it's not wasting any time let'sjump on the computer and let's getstarted so on my computer I am onmetamask website which is metamath.iowe'll add this down in the descriptionas well so you can always reference downthere for any links to sites ordocumentations we'll link them downbelow but on metamask site you can seehere that this is a crypto wallet andGateway to blockchain apps you can reada little bit more about it this is againprobably one of the more popular cryptowallets used especially for interactingwith blockchain applications on the webnow you can always head over to thedownload tab here and it'll show you thedifferent devices that you can downloadmetamask for we are on the brave browserhere but you can also see that itsupports Firefox Chrome Edge and Operaas well and if we come back here you'llsee that it navigates you to downloadthe proper extension for the browserthat you are in so if we click on thatit's actually going to install a Chromeextension onto our brave browser herebut it'll bring you to the Chrome webstore where you can add the metamaskextension to your browser so hit add toBrave here we'll hit ADD extension andonce you add the extension a new pageshould pop up and here you can eitherimport an existing wallet
