a piece of paper orsomething so we're going to go ahead andhitnext and genai essentialsit's going to ask us to verifythat we actually have it writtendown and we're going to go ahead and hitconfirm and great and it gives us acouple other tips remember definitelytake these tips very seriouslyespecially if you're going to use thisfor real money like I said for this demowe're just going to use test money soit's not as big of a deal but if you putreal money in you absolutely need toback up this seed phrase or secretphrase or we're going to refer to it asour pneumonic phrase awesome now we cansee the interface of our wallet herefull screen and depending on yourbrowser you can actually come up and pinit to your browser so that you can justclick it up in the top right and it'lldrop down and you can see the sameinterface here our pneumonic phrase thatthat secret phrase those that secret 12words that they gave us have given usaccess to a new account the address ofour account is located right here infact if we click it and copy it to ourclipboard and go to a tool called ablock Explorer called ether scan we canactually paste our address in here andsee details about our account ether scanlike I said is what's known as a blockExplorer and it's a way to viewdifferent addresses transactions andother happen that happen with ablockchain if we look at this addressthat we just created on ether scan forethereum mainnet we can see notransactions have happened there'sreally no analytics there's no commentsthere's no balance there's no valuebecause it's a brand new wallet and thisaddress that we just punched into etherscan represents our unique address ourunique wallet only identifiable for uswe'll talk about ether scan a little bitmore in a bit because it's a tool thatgoing to use quite often in wallets likemetamask you can actually even clickright here and create even more accountsso let's go ahead and create a newaccount we'll callthis counttwo as you can see this one has adifferent address so if we click thisone we go back to Ether scan we pastethe address in here we hit enter we cansee another address again that'suniquely identifiable to us right hereit is zero balance no value notransactions now if we go back to ourmetamask and we click the little buttonwe can see we have two differentaccounts in here it's the same if we hitthe extension in the top right click thebutton we have two differentaccounts the 12w secret recovery phraseallows us to create multiple accountsall with the same secret recovery phraseso that secret recovery phrase will giveus access to both account one andaccount two and any other accountthat we create by hitting this createaccount button because it gives youaccess to all the accounts in yourmetamask now these addresses of both ofour accounts are the public uniqueidentifiers but they also have a privateunique identifier only identifiable tous similar to the pneumonic these areprivate identifiers we never want toshare and we never want to give outthey're private this is known as youraccount's private key so the pneumonicwill give you access over many of theseaccounts the private key will give youaccess to just one of these accounts wecan see it by hitting these little threedots going to Account Details and Exportprivate key you'll just have to punch inyour password here and you'll be able tosee your private key this is going to beyour private key for your account youcan think of your private key as apassword for your account that lets youcreate transactions now the reason thatI'm showing mine on screen is becauseI'm not going to put any real money inhere and this is just going to be aburner account for this tutorial and Ihighly recommend once again you use aburner account you use accounts that younever put any real money into and alongthe way I'll show you how to make surethat you don't do that but normally it'snot a good idea to show or share yourprivate keys or your secret recoveryphrase if somebody gets a hold of thisprivate key they will have access to myaccount one however they won't haveaccess to my account two if get a holdof my 12-word recovery phrase orpneumonic they'll have access to bothaccounts and this is why when people saykeep your private key safe your keysyour Bitcoin your keys your ethereumthey're talking about both yourpneumonics or your secret recoveryphrases and your private Keys keep thoseprivate your public addresses aretotally public and anybody can view youraccounts on something like ether scan orany other Explorer and it's totally okayfor people to share their public addressif you lose your private key you loseaccess to one of your accounts if youlose your pneumonic you couldpotentially lose access to all youraccounts uh basically what I'm trying tosay is back these up and keep them insafe places for this course it's okay ifyou lose one since we're not putting anyreal money in them but in the real worldbe sure to do this and great those aresome of the main security considerationshere now if you look up in the top rightright next to that account button thatwe've been clicking you also see thisthing saying ethereum main net this isour net networks Tab and if we click itwe can see a list of all the differentnetworks that we currently have accessto ethereum main net is the main networkof ethereum and this is where real moneyis spent and used for transactions forthis course we're not going to beworking with ethereum main net we'reinstead going to be working withsomething called a test net since we'reEngineers often times we're going towant to test and see what our code isactually going to do and how to interactwith it we're going to use a combinationof local networks and test networks toactually do this to actually test oursmart contracts we're mainly going touse local networks but we'll get to thatin a little bit to see some of the testnetworks that come default with metamaskwe hit show/hide test networks this willbring us into the
